3ft x 2ft Beeswax & Damar Resin on a Mirror
The piece represents adulthood closing in on childhood. The sweet sugary surface beneath the vines represents our child selves and the innocence and peace we associate with that brief time in our lives. The vines, seemingly coming from somewhere behind the frame, represent the uncertainty and unrest of growing up. The vines have grown onto the frame such that there are parts of the original surface we cannot see anymore. Despite this loss, they bring a new sense of beauty and complexity to the piece.
